We have an experienced team that prepares every patient, monitors anesthesia, and recovers every animal. Your focus is where your expertise matters most, providing safe, efficient, high-quality surgery.

About FIXbend:
FIXbend is a nonprofit spay/neuter clinic serving Central Oregon.

Our mission is simple:
Provide affordable, high-quality surgical care so financial barriers never prevent pets from receiving the care they need.

We perform approximately 70 surgeries per clinic day when fully staffed while maintaining an unwavering commitment to patient safety and quality medicine.

Our clinic is volunteer-supported, highly organized, and built specifically for efficient, high-quality surgery.

What You'll Do:
Perform routine high-volume sterilization surgeries including:

  • Feline spays and neuters

  • Canine spays and neuters

  • Occasional cryptorchids

  • Limited additional procedures associated with sterilization

Schedule:

  • 3 clinic days per month

  • Typically 7–8 hour surgical days

  • Consistent monthly schedule

  • Opportunity for additional clinic days if desired.

  • Flexible schedule

Dentals Only Veterinarian

About FIXbend:
FIXbend is a nonprofit high-volume spay/neuter clinic serving Central Oregon that also provides affordable dental care. Our mission is simple. Provide affordable, high-quality surgical care so financial barriers never prevent pets from receiving the care they need.

What You'll Do:

Perform 1-3 dental procedures a day and 1-3 exams.

Schedule:

  • You pick the days you want to work approx 3 clinic days per month

  • Typically 6 hour surgical days (depends on how many procedures we book)

  • Opportunity for additional clinic days if desired.

Experienced CVT or Vet Assistant

Part-Time | Contract (1099) | Bend, Oregon

FIXbend, a program of The Rawley Project, is a nonprofit high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter (HQHVSN) clinic dedicated to making affordable veterinary care accessible throughout Central Oregon. Through our low-cost spay/neuter, vaccination and dentals programs, we help keep pets healthy, reduce pet overpopulation, and remove financial barriers to care.

We are seeking an experienced CVT or highly skilled veterinary assistant to join our team.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced surgical environment, and wants to make a meaningful impact in the community.

About the Role:
You will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and success of each clinic. You'll work closely with our surgeons, lead volunteers, and oversee patient preparation and anesthesia while helping maintain a smooth surgical flow.

This position typically works one weekend (Friday–Sunday) each month, with occasional additional clinic opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Induce anesthesia using IV and IM protocols

  • Place IV catheters

  • Prepare patients for surgery, including shaving and surgical scrub

  • Monitor anesthetized patients throughout surgery

  • Administer vaccines and medications as directed

  • Assist with patient recovery and post-operative monitoring

  • Maintain accurate medical records

  • Oversee and mentor volunteers working in prep and recovery

  • Delegate tasks effectively to maintain an efficient surgical workflow (if in a leadership position)

  • Communicate with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and clinic efficiency

Qualifications

  • Experienced CVT or veterinary assistant with 2-5 years of surgical assisting or high volume shelter medicine.

  • Experience with anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery

  • Excellent animal handling and restraint skills

  • Ability to lift and safely restrain animals up to 50 pounds

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Calm, confident decision-making in a fast-paced environment

  • Positive leadership style with the ability to coach and support volunteers

  • Ability to stand for several hours and physically move quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter (HQHVSN) setting.

  • Leadership or supervisory experience

  • Familiarity with efficient surgical workflow and anesthesia protocols
