You can make a difference in the life of a dog in need.

Simply put, fostering saves lives and is the backbone of rescue efforts. We work with rescue organization both locally and globally to bring dogs to Bend and Portland that otherwise do not have a high chance at adoption. Since we are 100% foster based, meaning we do not have a physical shelter, we rely on foster families to give our dogs a safe and loving space until they are adopted.

fostering not only changes a dogs life, but it can change yours too!

faq’s

What experience do I need? None! We welcome anyone interested in fostering and provide support for all new fosters. Anyone who loves dogs and wants to save a life should apply. You provide the love and we provide a crate, bedding, food, slip lead, martingale collar and ID tag.

Is it safe? Yes. Every dog is behaviorally assessed and medically assessed by a veterinarian prior to being placed into a foster home.

Do I get a say in who adopts my foster dog? Yes. Part of being a foster is meeting with potential adopters and actively participating in the adoption process to ensure everyone feels good about where the foster is going. We never place a dog into a home the foster is not comfortable with.

Do I get to choose which dog I foster? Yes, we post which dogs need fostering and you raise your hand for which dog works best for you.

What is the typical timeframe? A typical length of stay can be anywhere between a few days to a few weeks. Most dogs are adopted between 2-3 weeks. We know everyone has a life and are happy to accommodate travel schedules etc. Our network of fosters are great about helping each other out and ensuring nobody misses out on anything.
